Overall Site Masterplanning

In November 2019 the Western Australian State Government announced the NEWest Alliance, (made up of CPB Contractors and Downer) were the successful group to construct the Thornlie-Cockburn Link. The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will close a 14.5km gap in the eastern rail corridor by linking communities between the Mandurah and Armadale lines. Stations will be built at Ranford Road and Nicholson Road in Canning Vale, and significant upgrades made to both Thornlie and Cockburn Central stations. The new Ranford Road train station will be located to the south of Market City. Early works have commenced however there is no expected completion date at this stage.

Given the certainty of the new infrastructure within close proximity to the Market City site the master planning of the 52 hectare site will commence by mid-2020 having regard for both current and future site user requirements.
